Hello! My name is Mylee Zschech. I’d love to take the time to introduce myself to you and tell you about why I became a child sleep consultant.
Growing up back home in Australia I loved the idea of helping people. As a child I imagined myself in various helping professions like nursing, occupational therapy, psychology and more. When it became time to choose a direction in college Social Work was my choice and for many years I loved it. I worked in areas like child protection, mental health, disability and in a children’s hospital helping sick kids and their families. As a social worker I was always keen to focus on working with kids. Working with children and babies has always been my passion!
After having my first son (who is now almost9) my priorities changed and I have stayed home looking after him and my second son. I have LOVED so much being a mom but both my kids will now be in school full time come September. During my time as a SAHM to my two kids my interest in sleep developed. My first son had significant struggles with silent reflux, which can affect a baby’s sleep. Post diagnosis he struggled in this area when he needed a medication dose change. Given the difference in medication used in Australia was often! My second son was an entirely different child and sleep was never as easy for him. He never slept as well as his older brother, was always easily woken from any outside noise and we even needed to hire a sleep consultant when he struggled to make the transition from 2 naps to 1. Hiring that sleep consultant made an amazing difference to my son’s sleep and consolidated my interest in sleep and becoming a sleep consultant. I credit that amazing sleep consultant for the fact that my second son still had an afternoon nap past his 4th birthday!!!!
Now that both my kids are in school full time I have the time to focus on my new love – helping children and families get the sleep they need. This year I was able to become a certified child sleep consultant through the Family Sleep institute. As a child sleep consultant I am able to help families from all over the country to get the sleep they need by developing customized sleep plans that meet their unique needs.
When not working as a child sleep consultant I love spending quality time with my family, cooking, traveling, reading and running. I am so excited to meet all the wonderful families that will come my way through Big Little Dreamers. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and I look forward to working with you to get the best sleep possible!
All the best,
