Hello! My name is Mylee Zschech. I’d love to take the time to introduce myself to you and tell you about why I became a pediatric sleep consultant.
I am an Aussie mom living on the Upper East Side of New York City. I have two sweet boys ages 11 and 9. My first son was born in Australia, but we moved here when I was 30 weeks pregnant, so my youngest is our little American.
Growing up in Australia I loved the idea of helping people. As a child I imagined myself in various helping professions like nursing, occupational therapy, psychology and more. When it became time to choose a direction in college a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work was my choice and for many years I loved it. I primarily worked with young children and families in areas like child protection, mental health, disability and in a children’s hospital helping sick kids and their families. Working with children and babies has always been my passion!
After having my first son my priorities changed and I stayed home looking after him and my second son. I have LOVED so much being a mom but both my kids are now be in school full time and so I decided I needed a new direction. During my time as a SAHM to my two kids my interest in sleep developed. My first son had significant struggles with silent reflux, which can affect a baby’s sleep. Post diagnosis he struggled in this area when he needed a medication dose change. Given the difference in medication used in Australia that was often! My second son was an entirely different child and sleep was never as easy for him. He never slept as well as his older brother, was always easily woken from any outside noise and we even needed to hire a sleep consultant when he struggled to make the transition from 2 naps to 1. Hiring that sleep consultant was the best decision and made an amazing difference to my son’s sleep. This truly consolidated my interest in becoming a baby and toddler sleep consultant.
Becoming a sleep consultant has been an amazing journey. I enjoyed every minute of my certification program with the Family Sleep Institute, which has truly set me up for success in helping families reach their sleep goals. With those 250+ hours of training you can bet I know a whole lot about sleep! And I am always eager to increase my knowledge through reading every sleep book I can find and attending regular continuing education classes. That is also why I became a certified lactation counselor – because feeding and sleep are so intertwined.
I truly do love helping children and families get the sleep they need. To see a family go from sleepless nights to giving them the gift of sleep…. What could be better? As a child sleep consultant I am able to help families from all over the country, and the world, get the sleep they need by developing personalized sleep plans that meet their family’s needs, their child’s personality and their wishes and goals. I pride myself on taking a holistic approach. No one size fits all sleep training method over here!
The families I work with describe the feeling of huge relief when they get on the phone and know that their sleep struggles are fixable. That there will be someone there every step of the way, to be their biggest support and guide. Knowing that they don’t have to go through the sleep training process alone makes it feel easier, more doable.
I have many different packages range from downloadable guides, 30 minute phone calls to 1 or 2 week packages. Whatever you sleep situation, I have a package that will suit.
When not working as a certified sleep consultant I love spending quality time with my family, cooking, traveling, and reading. I am always so excited to meet all the wonderful families that come my way through Big Little Dreamers. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and I look forward to working with you to get the best sleep possible!
